Rounded square ring resonator based add drop filter for WDM applications using two dimensional photonic crystals

In this paper, Two Dimensional Photonic Crystals based Add Drop filter (ADF) is designed for DWDM applications. The existing work concentrates in Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing and few filters reported with non-uniform channel spacing, low quality factor. proposed ADF enhances the factor using Rounded Square Ring Resonator (RSRR) ensuring efficient bandwidth supporting WDM systems. design consists of bus waveguide, drop waveguide RSRR inner quasi-square ring square lattice. dielectric constant Si rod 11.68 which are hosted air. line defect created by removing 4 rods (Quasi ring) center ring. resonator used to reduce radiation field components surrounded resonator. performance parameters investigated 2D Finite Difference Time Domain algorithm. drops a at 1636.2 nm, 0.7 high 2337, dropping efficiency about 100%. size device 412.76 µm2. It highly sufficient support systems future Integrated Circuits (PIC). Further, impact functional such as transmission efficiency, factor, varying structural parameters, namely, adjacent radius, scatterer coupling lattice constant, radius radius.
